Monday, October 12, 2015, 7:13 PM - A U.S. postal service mail truck was ripped to shreds Sunday by a waterspout turned tornado on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa, Florida.

The horrifying moment was caught on camera as seen in the video above.

The driver, 56-year-old Randall Leaver, was in the truck the entire time and managed to walk away unharmed, CNN reports.

"I didn't think it was anything except a bunch of birds at first until I got closer," witness Kent Davis told CNN.

Davis was referring to the mail that was flying around. He was one of the many drivers who were able to escape.

"We were able to spin around and turn around the opposite way and pull off to the rest area," he told CNN.

The entire event lasted a couple of seconds, Davis added. The tornado also damaged a nearby construction site.

"I've never been associated with a tornado or anything that close, but I feel bad for the guy in the truck because that had to be really, really scary because I know I got nervous," Davis said. "I tried to film it on my phone. My brother gave me a hard time because I panicked and dropped my phone when I saw that it was getting closer to me. I was worried about just getting out of there."
