Frigid temperatures in St. Louis, Missouri has homeowners cranking up the heat -- but that's not an option for people who are homeless.

Volunteers of all ages are trying to lend a helping hand to those in need. More than a dozen have rounded up supplies and mapped out a plan to get the homeless out of the potentially killer cold.

They're part of the St. Louis Winter Outreach, a group organized by Teka Childress.

She estimates 300 homeless in the city will end up in shelters on the coldest nights, dozens of them solely because of St. Louis Winter Outreach program, and the warmth of out-stretched hands.
