VIDEO: Swarm of gnat larvae crosses the road

Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 5:44 PM - One of the week's most popular YouTube videos looks like the stuff nightmares are made of, featuring a swarm of fungus gnat larvae crossing the road. Make no mistake: This clip is gross, but we bet you won't be able to watch it just once.
The video was originally uploaded to the internet in August 2013, but it has seen a resurgence in popularity this month after being featured on the content-sharing site Digg.
Young fungus gnats travel in large groups because it reduces the risk of being attacked by predators.

Just one look at this slithery swarm and we can't help but agree: We certainly wouldn't go anywhere near this thing!
Individually, the gnats are between 2 and 5 mm and are typically harmless to humans.
The video has picked up more than 1.2 million views so far.
