Vancouver's North Shore hit with another storm

Thursday, November 6, 2014, 12:26 PM - With Metro Vancouver's North Shore still cleaning up from heavy rains that caused flash flooding Monday night, another round of wet weather hit the area Thursday.
Rainfall warnings were widespread across the north and central coast of B.C. Thursday morning, where Environment Canada (EC) said an additional 50 mm of rainfall was possible.
"Metro Vancouver was also included in the warning," said Weather Network meteorologist Tyler Hamilton. "The heaviest rains are expected to hit the North Shore, where about 40 to 50 mm is possible by the end of the day."
EC says showers will replace the rain as the front weakens Thursday afternoon.
Additionally, strong southeasterly winds of 50 to 70 km/h will develop near southern sections of the Strait of Georgia Thursday as the low approaches.
"Winds will shift abruptly to westerly 50 gusting to 80 late in the day and affect most areas of the South Coast," adds EC.
Hamilton says strong winds could disrupt ferry services and potentially cause power outages in some areas Thursday evening.
