U.S. hunters fined for illegal wolf kill in western Ontario

Friday, March 11, 2016, 6:29 PM - Three men from Minnesota have been fined $4,000 for illegal hunting in Minaki, Ont.

According to the CBC, one of the hunters shot a wolf without a license on November 2, 2015. He then travelled to Kenora, Ont., acquired a license, and returned to the site wolf was killed.

He tagged the animal and removed it from the site the next day.

Local officials spoke with the three men involved in the hunt. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Conservation reports all three men provided false information about the incident.

The shooter pleaded guilty in an Ontario court on March 1.

He was fined $2,000 for killing a wolf without a license and $1,000 for providing false information to an officer.

His two companions pleaded guilty and were fined $500 each for providing false information to an officer.
