Time Lapse Tuesday: Re-visiting Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy came to be known as 'Superstorm Sandy' -- the deadliest and most destructive storm of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
It brought wind, rain and snow to much of eastern Canada. But first, Sandy battered the U.S., affecting the entire eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine.
It made landfall in southern New Jersey on October 29, 2012. Its monstrous size was key in driving a massive storm surge onto the New York and New Jersey coastlines.
A storm surge occurs when strong winds push on the ocean’s surface, causing water to essentially ‘pile up.’
Ocean levels rose and water poured into Manhattan, flooding streets and filling subway tunnels. There was record surf in New York harbor when waves reached nearly 10 metres.
Power supply was devastated. A large part of New York City went dark, transforming once-familiar places but offering unique perspectives.
