This is what a sneezing chicken sounds like

A YouTube video from 2012 has gone viral after it was picked up by the content-sharing site Reddit on Sunday.

It features a chicken letting out a big sneeze, and getting all ruffled up in the process.

The video has racked up more than 400,000 views since the weekend and that number continues to climb.

You'll want to turn your speakers up when you watch this, but not too loud. The sneeze is startling -- even when you know it's coming (it happens near the 35 second mark).

The chicken in the video is named Squeak, and she is a light sussex bantam hen.

"One night we heard this incredible noise from the coop every few minutes. I went out to check on the little darlings, half worried it was a snake or some other critter bothering them but it was just Squeak sneezing away," her owners say on their YouTube page

"The others didn't seem too bothered but I brought her inside to monitor and possibly take to the vet the next morning. She spent the night in a box in the spare room and she sneezed through the night. By the morning she as right as rain. Not a sniffle, so out she went and that was the end of the episode."

Sneezing can be a sign of illness in chickens, but Squeak's owners believe the episode caught on film was due to an obstruction in her windpipe, which healed on its own the following day.
