For the second year in a row, The Weather Network has been named one of Canada’s leading brands placing 12th on Ipsos Reid’s third annual study of Canada’s 100 Most Influential Brands. The study was unveiled today during Toronto’s annual Advertising Week. Climbing four spots from the previous year, the survey data revealed Canadians see The Weather Network as trustworthy, engaging and a good corporate citizen. Among Canadian-owned brands, The Weather Network placed fourth.

“It’s an honour and a testament to our skilled team to be recognized again this year as one of the most influential brands in the country,” said Ron Close, President and CEO of Pelmorex Media Inc., parent company of The Weather Network. “Now in our 25th year and with more than 20 million monthly Canadian users across all screens, our brand is a true reflection of this country’s culture and fascination with weather.”

The Most Influential Brand Study was conducted via an online survey of over 5,000 Canadian residents, who were asked questions related to five key dimensions which define and drive brand influence. On the whole, an influential brand must be perceived to be trustworthy, engaging, leading edge, must possess great presence and demonstrate good corporate citizenship. The highest ranked brands are those which excel at building influence and driving preference in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

As the country’s leading weather information provider, The Weather Network is committed to delivering weather information to Canadians 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through its multiple platforms. Through its television station, web, TV and mobile applications it has become an integral part of millions of Canadians lives helping them plan their daily activities.
