Experienced science writer joins web team

The Weather Network is pleased to announce that Meteorologist and science writer Scott Sutherland has joined the team. Sutherland will be providing visitors to theweathernetwork.com daily in-depth analysis of weather phenomenon, space and life sciences.

His analysis will appear daily as part of Insider Insights, covering topics such as climate change, solar storms, tornadoes and occasionally the science behind pop culture items such as Star Wars. His expertise in forecasting meteorological conditions and explaining complex concepts gives readers a unique insight into the phenomena that shape our world.

Sutherland has an extensive background in several scientific fields, including meteorology, physics and air quality, in addition to his degrees in physics and meteorology.

His work experience includes terms as an Air Quality and Meteorology Scientist, Forecast Meteorologist and Environmental Specialist. Returning home to Canada in 2012 from the United States, Scott carried his knowledge of weather and science with him as he began writing for Yahoo! Canada's news blog, Geekquinox.
