Texas dog breaks state record for largest puppy litter

Friday, June 20, 2014, 6:31 PM - After 22 hours of labour Monclair Brady the mastiff is the proud mama to 17 puppies.

She had 12 girls and five boys, setting a new Texas state record.

Monclair Brady was just short of the world record of 24 puppies.

The little bundles of joy came as quite the surprise to Brady's human family, who was told she was only carrying eight babies.

This is the pup's second litter and, according to her family, her last.

When the puppies are ready to be on their own they will be put up for adoption online.
