Disneyland may be known as 'the happiest place on earth', but ever wonder what place is the happiest in Canada?

That honour goes to Kingston, Ontario, according to a new study conducted by Jetpac City Guides

The travel app's creators used geo-parsing technology to analyze more than 100 million public photos on Instagram to create a "smile score" for Canadian cities. So in other words, the more smiles they saw, the higher the city ranked.

But not all smiles are created equal -- Jetpac's smile score is defined as the average size of smiles in photos taken in cities across Canada and shared to Instagram.

"Smiles on the faces of millions of people in millions of photos are the most direct measure we have of happiness," wrote Jetpac. "A small grin doesn’t score as highly as a broad smile."

Kingston topped the list with a smile score of 40.2, while runner-up Regina scored 36.2.

Jetpac concluded that "the secret to finding happiness in Canada is either speaking French, being in Saskatchewan or being a student in Ontario."
