Sunday, June 19, 2016, 7:59 PM - It was quite the active afternoon in Saskatchewan Sunday.

Tornado warnings were issued at 12:09 p.m. local time in parts of central Saskatchewan, but were later dropped just before 1 p.m.

Environment Canada reported that a tornado was on the ground 20 km northwest of Naicam. Social media was flooded with images and video of severe weather in the area (see below).

As a trailing trough continues to track across the extreme eastern Prairies, a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts along the Manitoba-Ontario border.

"As of early this evening the risk of severe thunderstorms is now confined to the easternmost part of the province, where a line of severe thunderstorms is currently located," Environment Canada reports. "These storms have the potential to produce large hail and damaging wind gusts. The threat of severe weather will move eastward out of the province by 9 pm."

Powerful storms rolled through the eastern Prairies as Saturday wound down, bringing strong, damaging winds, large hail and at least one possible tornado.

A tornado warning was briefly issued in the early evening not far from Swift Current, Saskatchewan as Environment Canada tracked a large storm that doppler radar indicated was capable of producing a tornado.

The warning was dropped shortly afterward and there have not yet been reports of any damage, though Swift Current reported a peak gust of 107 km/h. Environment Canada has not confirmed a tornado in the area.

Even without any such reports, Saturday night's storms were impressively powerful and social media was filled with shots of violent lightning and scary clouds.
