Joanie the pit bull and Chachi the Chihuahua have become a viral sensation after Joanie was spotted carrying her injured friend inside her mouth in Savannah, Georgia.

When Animal control officers spotted the pair, they noticed that Joanie would put Chachi down every once in awhile to lick her friend's infected eye.

"It's not every day we get to see such devotion between two special dogs like this," Animal Control Officer Christina Sutherin says.

"They are both such sweet animals. But the relationship they share just sets them apart."

Their story was shared online by the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, where it attracted a great deal of attention.

According to CNN, people from Florida, Rhode Island and California inquired about adopting the pair.

"They both just light up whenever they are around each other, we would really like to have them placed in a home together to be able to continue that bond. Sometimes separating them they do go through an emotional stage where they do feel separation," Suttherin adds.

Now, it looks like the dynamic duo may have found a forever home.

On Wednesday evening the police department posted an update on its Facebook page, suggesting that the dogs will be moving to Florida.

The dogs will be transferred to their new home in August.
