Slovenia ice storm leaves thousands in the dark

As of Thursday around 95,000 households, schools, kindergartens and nursing homes for the elderly across the country remain without electricity after ice formed during a storm last week.
Fire brigades are working to remove fallen trees and free the roads and distribute generators that are being shipped from Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Large swaths of the United Kingdom are being hammered by wild weather as well, either through rising flood waters, or powerful tides whipped up by strong winds.
Southwest England and parts of coastal Wales in particular have suffered the most.
Parts of Somerset have been underwater for more than a month, according to the Associated Press.
