    1. ADORABLE LION CUBS

Last month, the Smithsonian Zoo put a GoPro camera in a lion's den. Mom was outside enjoying the sun while the cubs stayed inside and investigated the camera.

At first, the baby girls were wary of the new addition to their den, but within minutes they were brave enough to knock the camera over!

Two-thousand years ago, more than a million lions roamed Africa. Today, only about 30,000 remain. You can help protect this incredible species by donating to a reputable cause, like the National Geographic Big Cat Foundation.

    2. A LOUD LITTLE PANDA

Back in October, caretakers at the Smithsonian gave Mei Xiang, an eight-week-old giant panda, a checkup. Clearly, she doesn't like the attention she's receiving but at least we know her lungs work!

    3. ON HER OWN FOUR FEET

This incredible video was captured in March 2013.

It features one of the first videos of Petal, an endangered Rothschild giraffe who, after a little gentle encouragement from mom, stood up on her own.

She was just half an hour old.

    4. CURIOUS ELEPHANT

Watch as this newborn elephant takes its first steps at the Whiipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire, UK.

    5. INTENSE OWLS

We can't get enough of these intense little screech owls being filmed during a weigh-in at a wildlife centre.

    6. PURE BLISS

WARNING: Your heart may melt when you watch as this baby otter is introduced to water.
