Organizers of the Sochi Winter Games caused an uproar heard around the world after plans to put down stray dogs in the Olympic Village were made public.
Now, a Russian billionaire has stepped in to save the 150 dogs.
When Oleg Deripaska heard about the plan to eliminate the dogs, he funded a dog shelter near the site of the Winter Games.

"My first dog I found in the street of my village, the tiny village [where I was raised]," Mr. Deripaska told the BBC.
"It was a very close friend for almost five years."
The dogs entering the shelter will be vaccinated and made available for adoption.
