Record-breaking temperatures mark the end of warm streak for Prairies

Wednesday, January 28, 2015, 12:45 PM - Yesterday brought more record-breaking temperatures to the Prairies but before anyone celebrates, it might be time to look at the weekend forecast.

Pincher Creek, Alberta broke a record 114 years old, as the high reached 15.0 ºC yesterday, while Banff reached 10.1 ºC, beating out their high of 7.8 ºC set in 1934.

But the cool-down has begun. Temperatures are currently still hovering around seasonal but as the weekend approaches that's going to change very quickly.

In fact, some places could see temperatures five to 10 degrees below seasonal.

Lethbridge saw temperatures close to 20 ºC last weekend, and could feel like -15 this upcoming weekend.

Additionally this weekend could bring an up sloping event to the region. For all the latest information make sure to check The Weather Network.
