Rains dumped as much as 300 mm of rainfall in parts of Texas in just a few hours Sunday, sparking flash floods.
The woman in the video above -- six months pregnant Holly Whitmore -- was rescued from her car after it was stranded in Austin, Texas. She was helped to safety by firefighters.
At least one neighbourhood had to be completely evacuated, and the city's famed Austin City Limits music festival was washed out.
Elsewhere, reports say firefighters had to rescue and revive a dog at an address near the University of Texas campus, while kennels at an animal shelter were flooded. The animals were moved to safety.
More rain is expected through Tuesday.
But as staggering as the rain has been, Texas has apparently been in the grip of a drought.
Local forecasters say Sunday's rains won't be enough to reverse it, although authorities are still grateful to have extra water in reservoirs.
