Prairies endure a 20 degree drop and snow. Here's where

Saturday, October 3, 2015, 8:54 PM - Parts of the Prairies have been greeted with frigid Arctic air and mixed precipitation.

Northeasterly winds brought unseasonal temperatures in southern Alberta Friday and they are expected to drop to near zero or below freezing into Sunday morning.

Brocket, located southwest of Lethbridge, was the hot spot in Alberta Friday with a daytime high of 24.6oC. To put things into perspective, Saturday's high sat at a mere 4oC.

As the cool airmass settled in, mixed precipitation and flurries fell through parts of the Foothills, Edmonton and Calgary Saturday, although there was no significant accumulation.

As the mixing pushes south for Sunday, the majority of the province will be left with cool air and the return of some sunshine. Meanwhile, Saskatchewan will see rain continue, pushing into Manitoba.

With the heaviest amount of rain expected to fall Saturday overnight, Saskatchewan will see showers diminishing through the day Sunday, as the system pushes eastward into Manitoba.

Chilly temperatures will move into Saskatchewan and Manitoba into Sunday, although the temperature drop isn't expected to be as extreme as Alberta's.

Here's what Calgary residents had to say about Saturday's snow.
