"We expect to have 85% of those affected back online tonight; 99% by [Friday evening."

Thursday was a snowy day across Atlantic Canada.  A major snowstorm brought more than 30 cm of snow to parts of New Brunswick, with additional accumulation in the forecast.

Snowfall and special weather statements remained in effect for Newfoundland and Labrador Thursday evening.

In some places, an additional 25 cm could accumulate during the overnight hours.

"Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions," Environment Canada says in a statement.

"Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations."

Conditions are expected to taper through the day Friday.
