The low looks to move over southern Saskatchewan Tuesday, bringing scattered showers and the risk of thunderstorms. Southern Manitoba will likely see the effects of this system and models suggest 10 mm or less could fall across the region.

A weather advisory was issued for cold core funnels Monday in southwest Saskatchewan. Although it has since been dropped and the risk is marginally low, there is still a slight chance they could form Tuesday.

"They typically occur when low pressure systems are vertically stacked in the atmosphere," says The Weather Network's meteorologist Kelly Sonnenburg. "While cold core funnels require a cool airmass, tornadoes need a much warmer airmass and form from supercells. Cold core funnels are usually harmless, unless they make contact with the ground."

After a cool and rainy weekend in Alberta, showers look to skip the province Tuesday, leaving foggy conditions to start the day and a return of sunshine. Since Friday, Edmonton has picked up over 90 mm of rain, which is more than they have seen in the last seven months.

Temperatures are also improving across Alberta after snowfall and single digit highs were felt over the weekend.

"Overall, temperatures will be near or below season this week with showery weather on and off throughout the week," Sonnenburg says.
