PHOTOS: Waterspout and funnel clouds spotted in Ontario

Monday, July 30, 2018, 4:09 PM - Reports of funnel clouds and a waterspout erupted over social media on Sunday as tornado warnings were issued across parts of southern Ontario. Monday brought additional funnel clouds to southwestern Ontario, with two suspected funnels spotted over Chatham, and near Windsor. This is all ahead of a system moving in from the west, which brings a widespread risk for more thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday. and the threat for localized torrential rainfall.
MONDAY'S FUNNEL CLOUDS
Reports of funnel clouds over Chatham, and to the south of Windsor, surfaced on social media Monday afternoon as spotty thunderstorms rolled across the region.
SUNDAY'S TORNADO WARNINGS
Environment Canada issued the tornado warning before the lunch hour on Sunday for areas including, Essex, Chatham-Kent, and Elgin following an eyewitness report of a funnel cloud south of Highway 401. The warning was dropped just before 1 p.m.
Video below shows what appears to be a waterspout in the town of Rodney, Ont.
Several residents posted photos of funnel clouds on social media, though Environment Canada has yet to confirm if any touched down.
In other locations, ominous clouds loomed over the region.

- Seek shelter immediately
- Head to your basement - if you don't have a basement, go to the lowest level of your home (parking garage for apartments, main floor, etc.)
- STAY AWAY from windows and doors - if possible, stay in a windowless room
- Vehicles and mobile homes are NOT SAFE
