Perseid light show reaches its peak

Monday, August 12, 2013, 1:47 PM -

The annual Perseid meteor shower began to peak over the weekend, and on Monday night, the show will be just as spectacular.

As many as 60 meteors per hour will streak across the sky, visible to anyone who can get far enough away from sources of light pollution to have a clear view of the cosmos.

It also helps that the moon has been setting relatively early in the evening, making the stars seem even brighter.

As it is, the Perseids have already dazzled sky watchers. See below for a selection of the best tweets from the global light show.
