Northern lights to brighten Prairie skies Thursday evening

Residents in the Prairies are in for a light show Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Aurora borealis, or northern lights, are set to light up the sky.

"Due to recent sunspot activity, there's a chance the Prairie provinces could see northern lights," says Weather Network meteorologist Brian Dillon.

"Skies will be clear and the conditions look good."

While the potential light show won't be one to miss, bundle up if you plan on heading outside. It's going to be a cold night in the Prairies, feeling into the -20s with the wind chill.
