The brown bears of Katmai National Park and Preserve in remote Alaska are back for the second season of an Internet reality show on the #bearcam.

Eight web cams, an increase of five from last year, have been set up in different locations and are streaming live footage of the life and drama of the park's famed bears.

"See the biggest, most dominant bears jockey for position at Brooks Falls," the park posts on its website. "Watch mother bears teach their cubs lessons in survival. Experience the summer and fall seasons from a salmon’s perspective with an underwater camera."

Social aspects of this experience have also been heightened with park rangers periodically available to answer questions, live tweets and forum discussions.

The park, which is about 400 km west of Anchorage, is only accessible by float plane, making it difficult for people to visit the area.

"We still want people to have an understanding of what Katmai is like, and enjoy, especially enjoy the brown bears that are here, so explore.org is able to partner with Katmai to provide many different webcams along the Brooks River so you have a chance to watch the bears and have an opportunity to experience their lives," says park ranger Michael Fitz.
