Wednesday, May 28, 2014, 11:51 AM - More than three years after a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami killed thousands in Japan, debris from the disaster is still making its way to American shores.

Barnacle-encrusted boats and other items have been showing up on the beach in southwest Washington state.

On YouTube, tow truck driver George Hill posted videos of the weekend's haul including three different boats that appear to be from the Japanese tsunami.

He said little washed ashore over the winter, but now he's finding the boats and more.

Over the last four to five weeks, plastic bottles, civil defense type helmets and lots of plastic baskets have washed up.

A map from NOAA shows the ocean currents that push tsunami debris toward the northwest.

Officials say the boats are covered with bees and flies and are producing a terrible smell. A sign experts say, that these things have been out in the ocean for almost three years now.
