Messy fall storm targeting the Prairies

Tuesday, September 30, 2014, 11:56 AM - Unseasonally warm weather has already deserted the Prairies, and more cold and storms are en route.
Daytime highs on Sunday barely made it past the mid teens in most cities (Regina only reached 9oC), and some cities will fall further by Thursday, into the high single digits.
No clear skies either for a little while, thanks to two systems approaching the region.
"A Prairie storm system will arrive from the South later today as it merges with a low coming out of Alberta," Weather Network meteorologist Brian Dillon said early Tuesday.
Although rainfall amounts will be in the 15-30 mm range in the worst-hit areas, locally higher amounts of 40 mm are possible.
Cooler air will flow in behind the next low pressure system on Wednesday.
That'll bring more chance of rain on the plains of Alberta, but because of cold temperatures, there's a chance of snow in the north, and a rain-snow mix in other areas.
The cold air has already sparked snowfall warnings in parts of the Yukon.
