In China, a group of people got stuck in an elevator and decided to take matters into their own hands to escape.

    Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 12:04 PM - In China, a group of people got stuck in an elevator and decided to take matters into their own hands to escape.

    11 men walked onto the elevator and on its way down it broke down sending them to the basement.

    In the video above you can see the door open up to a brick wall.

    They didn't call for help, deciding instead to use a hammer from a worker trapped on the elevator to chisel an opening.

    One of the occupants then squeezed through the space to get help.

    Maintenance workers were able to bring the elevator up to the ground floor and let the other people out.

    The incident is now under investigation.

    The stranded men believe it was caused by the a malfunction in the elevator, but the property managers believe it was caused by overload.
