Man falls into the sea on live TV, may have been taking a selfie

A live TV clip allegedly shot in Beirut, Lebanon has gone viral on YouTube.
The foreground isn't what's attracting the attention.
In the background, a man can be seen walking to the ledge of the pier to take a picture. Some speculate that he was trying to grab a 'selfie' -- i.e., a self-portrait typically taken with a smart phone.

Either way, the photograph never happens.
That's because the man takes a flying leap into the sea:
This isn't the first time a selfie has gone awry.
In August, a photo attempt ended in tragedy when a couple fell to their death after trying to take a selfie while on a family vacation at the picturesque cliffs of Cabo de Roca in Portugal.
According to local investigators, the man and woman went beyond a barrier that prevents tourists from reaching the edge of the famed cliffs.
