That lightning sparked more than 60 fires in the state -- the largest one burning more than 2,100 hectares near Malaga.

That's about halfway between Seattle and Spokane.

Fire crews are doing what they can to protect people's homes -- but for some, evacuations have been ordered.

There's no word yet on containment.

lightning-sparked wildfires are creating problems on the other side of the country as well.

A blaze in southern Idaho has burned through thousands of hectares.

As of Monday morning, the fire was only 5% contained.

Authorities are asking everyone in the area to evacuate and have had to force some people to leave their homes for safety.

According to the Associated Press, more than 500 people are battling the flames, which killed at least 100 head of cattle over the weekend.
