The calendar may say fall, but it will be looking and feeling a lot more like winter across Iqaluit on Tuesday.

A storm system over northern Quebec is intensifying and will track over southeast Baffin Island Tuesday.

"This storm system is expected to bring a variety of inclement weather to all of Southern Baffin today and Wednesday," Environment Canada warns.

In Iqaluit, where a snowfall warning has been issued, up to 20 cm of snow is expected by Tuesday night.

"In addition, the winds at Iqaluit have gusted as high as 96 km/h. Winds will likely gust near 100 km/h for a few hours before diminishing to 60 gusting 80 km/h," Environment Canada adds.
