Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 4:54 PM - Officials closed a Los Angeles county road after a Friday landslide caused a 45-metre stretch to buckle and warp. Experts say they've never seen anything like it before.
The landslide occurred along Vasquez Canyon Road, bending power lines and causing a series of folds in the pavement.
“I’ve seen slides before, but this is actually the biggest slide I’ve ever seen,” a road maintenance superintendent told CBS Los Angeles. “It’s pretty amazing.”
Geology students from UCLA were studying the road closure Sunday while it continued to warp. Some parts have risen 4 metres since the slide, CBS reports.

The road has been closed indefinitely, until experts can guarantee it won't buckle again. They expect it will remain closed for some time.
"This isn’t just the road; it’s the mountain itself that’s moving and it’s pushing the road up," County Department of Public Works spokesperson Paul Funk told KTLA.
