Kitty makes a 911 call

Thursday, July 24, 2014, 6:35 PM - A mischievous cat in Florida caused a bit of a stir when he dialed 9-1-1 earlier this week.

Zeke the cat lives at an animal adoption centre in the City of Sarasota. On Monday, he found himself alone in Lynn Racies' office while she was out having lunch. When nobody was looking, he placed a call to emergency authorities.

When the dispatcher on the other end of the line answered the call, she heard a dial tone. One minute later, she called the adoption centre back.

Nobody at the centre had made the call, leaving the workers scratching their heads -- until someone noticed Lynn's phone was off the hook.

"Terry, who works for me, noticed my extension was lit, knowing I was not in the office thought, well that's odd, came into my office to check and found Zeke lying by the phone with the phone off the hook, sprawled across the key pad on the phone," Lynn says.

"We were like, oh my gosh, we think Zeke called 911."

Lynn says that Zeke has quite the interest in tech gadgets.

In the past, he's dialed outside lines and disconnected the phone in the middle of a call.

"I think he's probably bored and is looking for things to do," Lynn says.
