MUST-SEE: Plume of wildfire smoke towers over Calgary
Digital Reporter
Thursday, July 27, 2017, 8:02 AM - B.C.'s weeks-long wildfire crisis has forced thousands of people to leave their homes and scorched thousands of hectares of land.
All that smoke has to go somewhere, and it hasn't been confined to the valleys of the B.C. Interior. Plumes of it have made their way across western Canada in recent weeks, briefly prompting air quality advisories to stretch as far as Manitoba.
Though there are few currently in effect in the west this week, the fires continue to burn, with their usual disdain for man-made borders. On Wednesday, one fire in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, known as the Verdant Creek / Parks Canada, sent out a distinct plume westward into Alberta, making for orange skies in places like Canmore and Calgary.
Below are a few shots of the results on Twitter.
