IKEA introduces new parking lots for dogs to avoid hot cars

The Swedish furniture giant has recently added a new amenity to accompany their cost-friendly bistros and child care centres – this one is for the pet owners.

Locations in Cologne, Germany, are now equipped with “doggy parking lots,” a convenience for shoppers with pets, the Daily Mail reports. The spaces are set up in a shaded area with water bowls, places to secure a leash, and artificial grass.

The concept arrives in the middle of a sweltering summer, with Germany recently recovering from a heatwave that stretched through Western Europe.
The initiative is an effort to stop shoppers from leaving dogs inside hot cars.
