Wind warnings were issued for parts of Newfoundland, including the City of St. John's where gusts up to 100 km/h are likely Friday.

The potentially damaging winds are part of the same intense low pressure system bringing heavy snow across Labrador.

A cold front associated with the low will slide across Newfoundland Friday morning with southwesterly winds gusting to 100 km/h expected over exposed area, Environment Canada says.
