Thursday, July 2, 2015, 2:36 PM - Rainfall warnings in Quebec are finally starting to drop as a low pressure system tracks northeast.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued Wednesday afternoon for areas south of Montreal, which postponed and cancelled many Canada Day celebrations. The warnings were dropped by Wednesday evening.

The low is fueling heavy rain over northern and eastern Quebec. Between 30 and 50 mm has already fallen over the Chibougamau and La Grande IV areas, according to Environment Canada. A total of 50 to 70 mm is expected before the rain ends Thursday evening.

The low could bring showers to Newfoundland Thursday overnight. However, they are expected to depart by Friday morning.
