Frosty Friday: YOUR best Prairie frost pics from this week!
Friday, December 19, 2014, 6:00 PM - No, you don't have anything in your eye - it's been a foggy, frosty week across the Prairies.
Fog advisories were in effect for parts of the Prairies throughout much of the week as a stagnant air mass settled over the region. Rising temperatures and moisture at the surface met with colder air aloft, creating the ethereal fog and, in its wake, the amazing spiky sculptures known as hoar frost. (The same conditions created rare frost flowers in British Columbia a few weeks ago.)
The resulting winter wonderland was a photographer's paradise. Check out some of the best photos we collected from social media below.
Matt Grinter, a meteorologist with The Weather Network, said the fog will stick around through the weekend for parts of southern Manitoba.
