Heavy rainfall on Wednesday night has led to flooding issues in parts of Ontario.

The Essex Region Conservation Authority issued a flood warning for the region, advising that many areas were under water. The segment of the 401 highway between Provincial Road and Howard Avenue was among the flooded regions. The area has seen about one metre of flooding.

Flood waters in some areas are not expected to crest until Thursday afternoon.

In McGregor, the police and fire department were at the scene ready to assist residents, as the community saw over a metre of flood water.

The ERCA warns against venturing into any of the flooded areas as the depth may be uncertain and could lead to a dangerous situation. Environment Canada had issued a heavy rainfall warning for the area on Wednesday. It was lifted Thursday morning.
