Northern lights danced across the sky earlier this week. 

Also known as Aurora Borealis, the phenomenon happens when solar particles collide with gases in the Earth's atmosphere. 

If you missed the recent light show, don't stress: Winter's dark nights lend themselves to stunning displays, so keep your eyes to the sky!
