Even though the CFL season kicks off on the July long weekend, football seems to come back up onto everyone’s radar again at the start of September. It also marks the beginning of the NFL season, and with students heading back to school there is a definite collegiate feeling in the air that makes us want to hit the bleachers and cheer for our home team.

With an impressive record of 8-2 this year, we’re taking this week’s Fashion Forecast to Regina to see what to wear to the Saskatchewan Roughriders game this Saturday against the Toronto Argos. With highs of 21°C and the forecast predicting mainly sunny skies, the weekend is looking like it will be ideal conditions to get your Melon Head (aka Roughrider fan) style on in the outdoor stands.

The base of your outfit should be all about comfort and classic pieces—football and complicated fashions definitely do not mix! The priorities here are being able to spend long periods of time on your feet (likely jumping up and down when your team scores and dancing in frustration when they don’t), as well as having your hands free to enjoy snacks and, well, probably Instagram.

Most importantly, you’ll need to represent the team colours. Kelly green is the calling card of Roughrider fans, so we recommend sporting some lightweight knits in that palette, like this striped Mink Pink jumper and official team beanie.

One of the biggest trends at New York fashion week for spring 2014 has been pairing any and every look with a pair of sneakers, so why not jump on the bandwagon? Low-top Chuck Taylors have a definite varsity vibe to them, and the platform sole will set you above the rest, carrying you with ease from the tailgate to climbing stadium steps. Not to mention, they're super handy for looking over the heads of the row in front of you!

In terms of makeup, keep your look easy and breezy -- this Rosebud Salve will give your lips just the right amount of shimmer in the sun. Stash it in a cross body bag like Coach’s Madison Madeline Satchel, adding a ladylike polish to your otherwise casual ensemble.

Now, you’re all set to cheer like a champ—go Riders!
