Evacuations as flooding inundates New Brunswick homes

Saturday, December 27, 2014, 2:29 PM - At least two families are out of their homes in the Plaster Rock area Saturday because of flooding, reports CBC News.
Earlier this week, an ice jam formed on the Tobique River, causing flooding that forced the temporary closure of of Route 390 between Arthurette and Plaster Rock.
Five to six houses were evacuated Friday, Plaster Rock fire Chief Tim Corbin told CBC.
The province said on Saturday that water levels would continue to rise over the next day.

Homeowners are asked take all necessary precautions, including clearing snow and ice from drains to allow for effective drainage.
Officials are asking residents to stay away from shorelines and the banks of rivers and streams, as water is rapidly flowing.
