Fiery crash brings Ontario's busiest highway to a halt, police confirm one dead
Friday, November 1, 2013, 8:20 AM - A fiery crash in the early hours of Friday morning involving a vehicle and a tanker truck left one person dead and brought one of the country's busiest highways to a grinding halt.
Good Morning Travelers! Messy start out there with the 401 WB still shut down from Guelph Line to Hwy 6 S. #TNTraffic— Travelers Network (@TravelersNWK) November 1, 2013
Commuters in Ontario were also dealing with a fall storm that brought high winds and widespread power outages to the area, which is expected to last through the Friday morning commute before moving east into Quebec. Ontario Provincial Police report the car was wedged under the truck, which resulted in the vehicle to catch on fire. A third vehicle ended up in a ditch.
The 401 is one of the busiest commuter routes in the country, and it is expected that the closure will remain well past the morning drive times.
