Saturday, March 7, 2015, 6:58 AM - On Tuesday, The Weather Network released its 2015 Spring Outlook (Check it out online here).

We're not quite to spring yet, but this weekend will be calm across Canada with the potential for flurries in many provinces. Here's your Saturday weather brief.

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: The cold will continue for the next few days. Flurries and sea effect snow are in the cards, but significant snowfall accumulation isn't expected.
  • Newfoundland: Off and on flurries will continue through the weekend, with heavier sea-effect snow on the Avalon and the Northern Peninsula, with temperatures remaining slightly above seasonal.
  • Atlantic Canada Spring Outlook: The stormy pattern across Atlantic Canada this winter will likely continue into April with the potential for late-season winter-like storms, according to The Weather Network’s 2015 Spring Outlook for March, April and May.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: Chilly temperatures will continue in southern Ontario for the next few days. One and off flurries Saturday with a clipper-like system, bringing no more than 2-4 cm in most places. Another system moves in area Sunday, bringing a chance for between 2 and 4 cm snowfall accumulation, possibly lasting through to Monday morning.
  • Quebec: Southern Quebec could see 2-5 cm of snow through Saturday, with temperatures remaining close to seasonal all weekend.
  • Ontario Spring Outlook: Arctic air will linger deep into spring, creating the potential for late season snowfalls in parts of Ontario, according to The Weather Network’s 2015 Spring Outlook for March, April and May.

"Because of that snow on the ground and the ice cover on the lakes, temperatures will generally be below normal," said Chris Scott, chief meteorologist at The Weather Network. "We’re going to have some very cold air at times, but also some influx shots of warmer air. So, a lot of freeze/thaw action. A pretty nasty March shaping up because of that.”

Western Canada

  • Prairies: After beautiful temperatures across Alberta and Saskatchewan, the trend continues for the next few days. Temperatures are expected to reach the double digits for parts of Alberta by the end of the weekend, and stay above seasonal for southern Saskatchewan. Light flurries in Manitoba.
  • British Columbia: Quiet conditions in B.C. Saturday, with dry and warm conditions expected through the weekend. A pattern change next week will bring unsettled weather into the long range.
  • West coast Spring Outlook: B.C. is ahead of the pack in Canada, having experienced spring-like weather already in the latter half of winter. Expect March, however to be close to seasonal in temperature. After a cold few days to start the month in the Prairies, a period of spring-like temperatures is expected through the second week of March. The mild temperatures will not be here to stay.
