Tuesday, July 7, 2015, 8:03 AM - Rising humidity promises storms for the afternoon commute in parts of the country, while others swelter with their own chance of storms.

Meanwhile, smoky skies continue for many provinces due to the West's intense wildfire emergency.

Here's your coast-to-coast roundup.

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: Plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s, cooler near the water. Approaching cold front brings showers for New Brunswick and Nova Scotia overnight. Storms possible again in Nova Scotia Wednesday afternoon.
  • Newfoundland: After a cool and rainy Monday, conditions improve with temperatures warming to seasonal by Wednesday. Mix of sun and cloud Tuesday, high of 13oC in St. John's. Rain showers reach Newfoundland by Wednesday afternoon and evening, the Avalon by late evening.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: Potential for scattered thunderstorms ahead in the morning through southwestern Ontario, main threats being heavy downpours and strong, damaging winds into the afternoon. Line passes through the GTA into the early afternoon and continues into the evening commute. Generally non-severe across the front.
  • Quebec: Humidity making it feel well into the 30s, fueling potentially strong storms along the St. Lawrence, with some potential to reach severe levels. Primary threat will be heavy downpours.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: A weak cold front will spark scattered thunderstorms over a wide swath of the region, with isolated severe potential in the Alberta foothills. Tuesday sees fair skies, with scattered showers and thunderstorms for southeastern Manitoba in the morning and afternoon. Temperatures warm for the mid-week.
  • British Columbia: Another hot day ahead, slight chance of storms through the Cascade Mountains, west of Vancouver as well as the southeastern Interior. Isolated severe pockets possible, lightning the main threat. Temperatures return to seasonal on the south coast by Friday.
