Wednesday, January 27, 2016, 8:40 PM - It could be a stormy weekend for several regions, with systems moving into parts of B.C., Ontario, and Atlantic Canada. Here's your Thursday weather brief.
Atlantic Canada
- Newfoundland: Forecasters are keeping an eye on what may be a significant storm expected to make its way into Atlantic Canada Friday into Saturday. "Current forecast guidance indicates the low could track anywhere between the Burin Peninsula and southeast of Cape Race overnight Friday or Saturday morning," Environment Canada says in a statement. "A more western track would result in heavy snow over Central and northeastern Newfoundland later Friday into Saturday with snow changing to rain over eastern Newfoundland. However, a more eastern track would result in heavier snow over eastern Newfoundland with no changeover to rain." Get the full details here.
- Maritimes: High pressure sets up Thursday, providing clear skies. Cape Breton looks like it will be among the worst hit during Friday's storm.
Ontario & Quebec
- Ontario: Another clipper system is set to bring 5-10 cm of snow through central and southwestern Ontario Thursday. Details on this shovel worthy snow event here.
- Quebec: Scattered flurries will also move into southern Quebec Thursday afternoon as the clipper advances eastward.
Western Canada
- Prairies: Another clipper system will form Thursday night in central Alberta, bringing rain showers and mixed precipitation through the night.
- British Columbia: Heavy rain could bring up to 100 mm to Vancouver Island and the North Shore Islands by Thursday morning. Scattered showers and a cloudy weekend are ahead.
