WINTER UPDATE: Tune in to The Weather Network on TV for a second look at the season, at :23 past the hour all day beginning at 6:23 a.m. ET on February 2, Groundhog Day

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: Nova Scotia Power is feverishly working to get customers back online after being left in the dark following a major weekend storm. Weather conditions will gradually improve Monday as potentially record-breaking warmth invades the region.
  • Newfoundland: Labrador will continue to see a messy 48 hours ahead as 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected to fall, with gusting winds along the coastal region. As a new system impacts the east Wednesday, Newfoundland will feel the effects Thursday with snow that will transition to rain.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: The system that brought rain to southern Ontario and up to 10 cm of snow across parts of northern Ontario Sunday gradually departs the province Monday morning. Mild, double digit temperatures are forecast through the day with the city of Toronto already reaching 10°C before 8 a.m. "The next system is set to move in late day Tuesday in southern Ontario, bringing a brief period of snow to southern Ontario before changing over to freezing/ice pellets and then transitioning over to just straight rain," says Weather Network meteorologist Kelly Sonnenburg. "Meanwhile, central and northern Ontario will see a hefty dumping of snow with gusty winds." According to Sonnenburg, latest models indicate over 20+ cm of snow is possible in the Timmins to Sudbury area. Get all the details here.
  • Quebec: Southern Quebec set to dry out through the afternoon hours on Monday with sun, cloud and mild temperatures on tap.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: Scattered flurries possible through the region. Eastern Prairies see a return to seasonal temperatures.
  • British Columbia: Fair for most of the province Monday and Tuesday, ahead of a wet pattern beginning Wednesday and lasting to the end of the week. Snow levels rise from Wednesday onward.
