February is finally behind us, and spring is in sight, but March is looking to start with a scattering of snow over much of the country
Here's what you need to know for Sunday.
Atlantic Canada
The brief reprieve from February's parade of storms is over for now, with a new system heading in for the start of the work week.
- Maritimes: Mostly sunny, with temperatures a few degrees below zero. Incoming storm will bring up to 15 cm to parts of the Maritimes, beginning in the pre-dawn hours of Monday.
- Newfoundland: Sea effect snows for western shores, easing through the day. Light flurries possible for the Avalon. Strengthening storm set to bring more than 25 cm to parts of Newfoundland, beginning Monday morning.
Ontario and Quebec
Weekend snows an appetizer for a larger event mid-week.
- Ontario: Milder temperatures. Southwestern Ontario seeing light snow making its way in, will spread along 401 corridor. GTA less than 2 cm, Golden Horseshoe 5 cm. Tapers off Sunday night, moves into eastern Ontario Monday morning.
- Quebec: Light flurries this afternoon, Montreal included. Quebec continues to see flurries into Monday morning and afternoon.
Western Canada
- Prairies: System tracking into Alberta this evening, bringing a few centimetres of snow through there and Saskatchewan Sunday night into Monday morning. Up to 10 cm in the foothills and Rockies due to upsloping. Snow south of Edmonton by Monday morning, but Calgary will see snow through the day Monday.
- British Columbia: Showers on the coast, reaching Vancouver Island by the afternoon, mixing/snow at higher elevations. Vancouver expected to escape with only variable cloud.
And don't forget, the northern lights will still be visible from many locations across the country this weekend:
