Monday, May 4, 2015, 7:04 AM - Thunderstorms threaten to rumble through a handful of provinces, while rain dominates the forecast from coast to coast. Here's your Monday weather brief.

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: Sunny skies and pleasant temperatures across all provinces through Monday afternoon. A cold front moves in by the evening, bringing showers and a brief cool down through the overnight and into Tuesday morning.
  • Newfoundland: Sunny and dry for the most part, with temperatures near seasonal on Monday.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: Non-severe thunderstorms continue to roll through northern Ontario, as a cold front sweeps across the province. Monday begins with mainly sunny skies in southern Ontario. As the front approaches clouds will increase around the noon hour, developing showers and a risk for thunderstorms across the entire region. Southwesterly winds of up to 50 km/h possible as the cold front moves through and passes Monday evening.
  • Quebec: Scattered thunderstorms and showers across northern Quebec Monday morning as the front crosses over from Ontario. Similar conditions reach the southern province by the afternoon, with a thunderstorm risk north of Montreal and along the St. Lawrence.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: Sunny for the most part through Monday as temperatures bounce back from Sunday's slight cool down, rising back to the low 20s. Showers develop over northwestern Alberta by the late afternoon. Possible light showers over central Saskatchewan. A risk of thunderstorms moves in along a cold front by Tuesday.
  • British Columbia: A low brings the B.C. coast light rain Monday afternoon, continuing through Tuesday.
