Wednesday, April 22, 2015, 9:48 AM - The calendar says April, but it feels decidedly below-seasonal in parts of Canada this week. That said; our meteorologist Doug Gillham assures you the temperature anomaly Canadians are experiencing now, and the temperatures it is bringing, will not return until late October. Here's your Thursday weather brief.

Atlantic Canada

  • Maritimes: Temperatures will be below seasonal for the next few days. Cape Breton's freezing rain has transitioned over to snow. Rain will push in Thursday afternoon, dropping a widespread 15 to 30 mm for southern New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, with 15 mm expected for PEI.
  • Newfoundland: Chilly temperatures will dominate Thursday, with 15 mm of rain expected for southern Newfoundland. Showers will continue to prevail into the weekend.

Ontario and Quebec

  • Ontario: Flurries are expected Thursday morning but will eventually taper off by early afternoon. Over 50 cm of snow fell in Pickle Lake, Ont., over the past three days. High pressure to build over the next few days, leading to calmer conditions in southern Ontario Thursday and Friday.
  • Quebec: Unsettled conditions in southern Quebec for Thursday and will clear by Friday. A rainfall warning remains in place for the greater Quebec City region, with the area having already seen 37 mm since April 21.

Western Canada

  • Prairies: A 10-degree temperature drop is expected for Alberta Thursday, with rain showers expected in Edmonton through the day. "Mixing and snow is on tap for central Saskatchewan Thursday night into Friday," says Sonnenburg.
  • British Columbia: An unsettled pattern is ahead for Vancouver, with precipitation most days. Rain and gusty conditions will move into the central coast with showers continuing into Friday.

It’s Storm Hunters Month on The Weather Network:

  • Wednesday evening we present Angry Planet: Timbuktu. Tune in at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., and the top of the hour 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. ET Thursday morning for the full episode.
